Phoenix is dervied from pheonix dactylifera, more widely known as date palm. The plant is native to the UAE and plays an important role in the art and cultural history of the region. The leaves are dried, woven and crafted into different domestic products. By reinventing an everyday material of the past; the prototype aims to look at the materiality of the palm leaves through a contemporary lens.
